Biography:

Chuck Zendner grew up in the small town of Kingsburg, California, located in the center of the San Joaquin Valley. He began his music career as a drummer at the age of 12 years and was playing professionally by the time he was 16. After taking private drum lessons from well known drummer Freddie Mann, Chuck went on to become one of the best known percussionists in the Fresno area during the late 1960s.

During his junior and senior years of high school, Chuck performed with the California State Honor Band as the first chair percussionist as well as playing drums for the “Sedate Sunshine Colony”, a band popular in the Central California area from 1966 to 1970.

After high school Zendner continued his musical training in college, majoring in music and serving as the college’s assistant band director during his last two years in school.

During this time period, Chuck performed with some of the legends of early rock and roll, “Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs” (Woolly Bully, Little Red Riding Hood), Jimmy Kay and the Vibradoors, The Scorpions, and many other popular west coast bands.

After graduating with a degree in music, Chuck was drafted into the military in 1970. He performed in the Navy band during the first 18 months of his military service. He later transferred from the Navy band and served as a medic in the Navy Corp for almost a year in Vietnam.

After completing his service in the Navy, Chuck returned to playing and performing music and took up guitar and bass. With his years of experience playing percussion, bass guitar seemed to be a natural fit for him. Chuck is a founding member of the Oregon Valley Boys and resides in Salem, Oregon.
